Julyssa is an assistant editor for George Washington Today. She covers the arts and humanities at GW.

Julyssa grew up in Silver Spring, Md. After living in Brooklyn for several years, she moved back to D.C. to write for Washingtonian magazine. Her work also has appeared in the Washington Post, NPR, USA Today, Conde Nast Traveler, Washington City Paper and Vice's Motherboard. 

Prior to working at GW, she oversaw a team of copywriters and photo editors at LivingSocial and led editorial strategies for both mobile and digital platforms. She currently is pursuing a master's degree in GW’s School of Media and Public Affairs.
