A new George Washington University website showcases the university’s commitment to global engagement, providing information on study abroad programs, international research activities and opportunities for students to experience the world right on campus.
GW Global, which launched Monday, brings together the university’s vast array of international efforts, including those led by three main GW offices: the Office of International Programs, Office for Study Abroad and International Services Office.
The site highlights opportunities for GW students to engage globally in and around the GW campus—via coursework, cultural events or lectures, and internships—or around the world through study abroad and research. A “GW and the World” feature provides snapshots of activities in specific regions of the world. Meanwhile, pages highlighting research showcase the international projects that students, faculty and staff are performing on campus as well as those that take them all over the world, to more than 85 countries on six continents.
“The research and educational opportunities that are designed to foster understanding and knowledge that crosses national boundaries are critical to our academic mission,” Provost Forrest Maltzman said. “Our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive campus, our extensive academic programs and our relationships with major international institutions in Washington, D.C., and around the world make GW an ideal place for a truly global educational experience.”
Each year, GW enrolls roughly 4,200 international students from more than 130 countries and roughly 45 percent of GW undergraduates study abroad.
