The Dec. 4 grand opening of Buff and Blue on Penn—the Follett Higher Education Group’s third outpost on the George Washington University campus—will mark the start of a celebratory promotion period from Dec. 4 to 20.
A ceremony will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the 2100 Pennsylvania Ave. NW location, kicking off nearly two weeks of discounted merchandise and in-store contests at the three campus store locations—Buff and Blue on Penn, the GW Campus Store and the GW Technology Hub.
The GW Campus Store was moved to the lower level of the Marvin Center in August following the announcement of the combined health and wellness center. The GW Technology Hub is located in the space formerly held by STA Travel on the Marvin Center ground floor.
According to GW Campus Store Director Bob Blake, the two-week sales event is the perfect remedy for last minute holiday shopping.
“This academic year marks the 25th anniversary of the opening of the GW Campus Store, and we are looking forward to showing students, faculty and staff how each location has a different look and feel,” Mr. Blake said. “The new space lets us stock a wider variety of merchandise and expands GW’s brand in the Foggy Bottom community.”
The GW Campus Store Passport Contest is the flagship promotion. It will offer members of the university community an opportunity to win Beats Studio headphones, a Fitbit Flex and other prizes. Students, faculty and staff can enter the passport contest daily during the promotional period by visiting any store location and texting the passport “code” to enter.
In addition to the Passport Contest, an author event with Washington Post journalist Neely Tucker will be held Dec. 11 and the annual Faculty and Staff Appreciation event will be held Dec. 11 and 12.
The three campus store locations will be open through Dec. 24. Stores will close on Dec. 24 at 3 p.m. and will reopen on Dec. 29.
Beginning Dec. 18, stores will be open 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
