On Tuesday evening, members of the George Washington University community gathered in the University Student Center Grand Ballroom for an interfaith iftar hosted by the Division for Student Affairs’ Center for Interfaith and Spiritual Life along with student organizations including the Muslim Students’ Association, Muslim Voice, the Interfaith Dialogue Society, and the Interfaith Student Advisory Board.

The evening began with an offering of dates and water, traditionally used by Muslims to break their daily fast at sunset during the month-long observance of Ramadan.

University President Ellen M. Granberg and University Chaplain Kristen Glass Perez offered opening remarks followed by a call to prayer by GW Chaplain in Residence Abdullahi Abdirahman.

Attendees enjoyed dinner while taking part in interfaith discussions at their tables, engaging in an interfaith panel conversation, and having opportunities for prayer, reflection and building meaningful connections within the GW community. Photographer William Atkins captured the moment.
