The George Washington University Division for Student Affairs, in partnership with the Center for Interfaith and Spiritual Life, hosted an interfaith Iftar in the University Student Center Grand Ballroom after sundown on Thursday. Rooted in the month of Ramadan, the event brought together students and other members of the GW and local communities for food, fellowship and interfaith reflection.
Celebrating the traditions of community members of varying faith-based, secular and spiritual backgrounds, the event offered edible dates for those breaking fast, reflections from different religious, secular and spiritual traditions, space for group conversations, and time and space for prayer.
In her opening remarks, University Chaplain Kristen Glass Perez emphasized the importance of attendees granting welcome, being present, and speaking and listening to others with respect and kindness.
