Amy Cashwell, M.A. '01, Ed.D. '08, the superintendent of Henrico County (Virginia) Public Schools, was named the Region 1 Superintendent of the Year by the Virginia Association of School Superintendents. That puts her in contention for the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Superintendent of the Year award.
Currently in her fifth year as superintendent, Cashwell is a champion for innovation and personalized, student-centered learning. In 2016, Cashwell was named "Outstanding Leader of the Year" by the Virginia Society for Technology in Education for her role in launching a school-based instructional technology support program. And in 2017, she was named a "Top 30 Technology, Transformer and Trailblazer Across America" by the Center for Digital Education.
