The George Washington University has added 24-hour contact information for emergency services to the back of GWorld cards, the university’s official identification card for students, faculty and staff.

The cards will include phone numbers for GW Police Department and EMeRG, Medical Services, Mental Health Services, the Sexual Assault Response Team and the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

According to GW Student Association President Andie Dowd, the initiative is a part of collaborative efforts of the university and SA to support student wellness.

“We proposed this addition because there is often a limited amount of time to get help during emergencies and students need to be able to easily access essential resources,” Ms. Dowd said. “Since every student carries a GWorld card, it makes sense to add this information.”

The new GWorld cards were issued to incoming freshmen at the start of Colonial Inauguration in June. Returning GW students and faculty and staff members will recieve an updated card when replacing a lost or stolen card.

“This is a simple way to make sure students can get the help they need,” Ms. Dowd said.
