Students stand in line to vote

The George Washington University was recognized by the All-In Campus Democracy Challenge (All-In) as a 2022 ALL-IN Most Engaged Campuses for College Student Voting. The All-In Most Engaged Campuses for College Student Voting recognizes colleges and universities for making intentional efforts to increase student voter participation.

“We are proud that the work of the GW Votes coalition and all of the efforts made by faculty, student groups and offices has been recognized with this designation,” said Amy Cohen, executive director of GW’s Honey W. Nashman Center for Civic Engagement and Public Service. “The right to vote can’t be taken for granted, and we are thrilled that so many GW students start their lifelong civic journey as voters while here at GW. GW votes will be working to keep civic participation at the forefront throughout the coming years.”

GW joins a group of 394 colleges and universities recognized by All-In.

The All-In Campus Democracy Challenge empowers colleges and universities to achieve excellence in nonpartisan student democratic engagement. Campuses that join the All-In Campus Democracy Challenge complete a set of action items to institutionalize nonpartisan civic learning, political engagement and voter participation on their campus. The All-In Campus Democracy Challenge currently engages over 9 million students from more than 950 institutions in all 50 states and D.C.

GW earned a Silver Seal from the All-In Campus Democracy Challenge for its high voter turnout in 2020. GW had a 69% voting rate, which was a 12% increase from 2016, and it beat the national average of 66%.
