Anuj Mehrotra, dean of the George Washington University School of Business, will serve as the Stephen P. Zelnak, Jr. Dean’s Chair of the Scheller College of Business, Georgia Tech announced Tuesday.
Mehrotra will remain dean of the GW School of Business through the end of December and begin his new role on Jan. 1, 2024.
Mehrotra joined the GW School of Business in 2018 as dean and professor of decision sciences. Under his leadership, the school has reimagined business education to serve the rapidly changing marketplace, including introducing flexible certificate programs that can create customizable master’s degrees; expanding online offerings for increased access across the globe; converting undergraduate business degrees to B.S. degrees to include new majors and allow for students to pursue double majors; and introducing 4+1 combined degree pathways that enable students to achieve in five years a specialized business master’s degree as well as an undergraduate degree.
In addition to degree innovations, Mehrotra has spearheaded other initiatives and achievements that have advanced the School of Business, including hiring the first chief diversity officer; building partnerships with alumni and the industry and government communities through engagement opportunities such as George Talks Business, the Dean’s Corporate Council and the GW Business and Policy Forum; and earning recognition in MBA rankings for having the highest percentage of women enrolled in a full-time MBA program in the nation as well as a top-10 international MBA.
An ambassador for the School of Business and business education broadly, Mehrotra is a member of the Economic Club of Washington, D.C., and is on the board of Greater Washington Board of Trade. He recently spoke at the United Nations about the importance of recruiting and educating a diverse, inclusive and ethical student body in our nation’s business schools.
Mehrotra is an alumnus of Georgia Tech, where he earned a doctoral degree in operations research.
“Dean Mehrotra has been a steadfast and visionary leader of the GW School of Business during an exciting and transformational period,” said Christopher A. Bracey, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. “He has ensured the GW School of Business’s educational offerings have been responsive to the needs of the modern business industry, making it a highly attractive option for a variety of students, ranging from traditional undergraduate students to executives pursuing continuing education. I wish him well as he continues his trajectory of incredible success at Georgia Tech.”
