A new website is bringing together a variety of resources aimed at heightening awareness and aiding victims of abuse and harassment.

These include all forms of sexual harassment and sexual violence, stalking, dating and intimate partner violence.

The Haven — A Safe Space for GW website is an initiative of GW’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion and was developed with the input of students and offices throughout campus, including the Multicultural Student Services Center, the Athletics Department, Disability Support Services and the Office of Study Abroad.

“The university has spent the last couple years developing more robust policies, procedures and protocols related to sexual harassment and sexual violence within the GW community,” said Tara Pereira, director of campus inclusion initiatives. “This website shows one further step in the commitment to addressing these issues on campus and wherever our students, faculty and staff are in the world.”

Visitors to the website can find information about harassment and abuse, what to do if they are witnesses or victims and how to report incidents confidentially. Members of the GW community can also request meetings and presentations on abuse tailored to their specific department or group.

Haven is not just for students, said Ms. Pereira, but for faculty, staff, students and visitors. “It’s a resource for the entire community at home or abroad.”
