University to Host Farewell Celebration for President Knapp

The event will take place at the Charles E. Smith Center on May 6 and feature music, food and fun.

April 20, 2017

All George Washington community members are invited to a farewell celebration for President Steven Knapp and Diane Robinson Knapp from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 6 at the Charles E. Smith Center.

GW Jazz All Stars—with a special performance by Dr. Knapp—will headline the free event, which will also feature savory and sweet food stations, a photo booth and caricature artists. Attendees also will have the opportunity to write thank you postcards to the Knapp family. Resident canine celebrity Ruffles will even be on site.

Students, faculty and staff attendees do not need to register but a GWorld card is required for entrance. Other GW community members—including alumni, neighbors and friends of the university—are encouraged to RSVP here. The first 500 attendees will receive a special giveaway.

Dr. Knapp’s tenure as president ends July 31. In the meantime, read about his accomplishments throughout his decade of service to the university.
