University Calendar

Members of the university community who want to keep up with all the George Washington University’s events now have a single calendar to track them.

The university this month launched the University Calendar, a single point of access to the vast array of events hosted on or off campus and sponsored by university schools, departments and student organizations. The calendar—part of the university’s ongoing web project and an important priority for the Student Association—is already packed with more than 200 events.

“A GW unified calendar has been a long-standing priority,” said Lorraine Voles, vice president for external relations. “This effort was embraced by the Student Association and we are grateful for their partnership. So much happens on campus each and every day, and now students, faculty, staff and other members of the GW community will have easy access to all the information about activities across campus.”

Those who want to submit an event simply complete a short form online, either for student organization events or general events, which cover all other non-student sponsored, GW-affiliated events. A university staff member will then review the submission and ensure all information is correct and a duplicate event does not already exist on the calendar. Events eligible for submission are any that are organized, hosted, sponsored or co-sponsored by university departments, colleges, centers, institutes and student groups.

The calendar also offers users the ability to add events to their calendars, email or print event details and share them on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Users can search the database by keyword, type, date and location, among other categories.
