George Washington University alumna Blessing Boma Douglas, M.P.A’20, received the Outstanding Recent Alumni Award from the Trachtenberg School of Public Policy and Public Administration. The award honors graduates within the past 10 years who are in the early stages of their careers and have already distinguished themselves while demonstrating the promise of even greater achievements in the future.

Douglas has expertise in nonprofit management, community development, consulting mental health advocacy and business development. She oversees subsidiary brands under the Boma Group of Companies. Douglas also strives to help vulnerable communities through her work with Boma Prize for Africa Foundation and the Douglas Kintsukuroi Foundation for Mental Health in Nigeria.

Douglas is also the author of the book, “Of Love and Bruises,” which encourages parents and guardians to break cycles of abuse. The book advocates for children to be raised with loving corrections and effective communication that will improve a child's self-esteem, strength, and confidence.
