William Lafi Youmans, an associate professor of media and public affairs, is being recognized by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) for his leadership and commitment to public service. He is one of two recipients of the 2023 Alex Odeh Award, named for the late civil rights advocate who served as the ADC West Coast director at the time of his tragic assassination in 1985.
Youmans is currently working on a documentary centered around the life of Alex Odeh. He is also working to create a substantial video archive documenting Arab American TV, a program that aired from Los Angeles in the early 1980s to the early 2000s.
