Resources for the Spring 2025 Career Expo

The Center for Career Services has compiled a list of tips for students attending the Feb. 28 in-person event.

2024 Career Exploration Expo

The George Washington University will host its spring 2025 Career Exploration Expo from noon-4 p.m. on Feb. 28 in the Grand and Continental Ballrooms of the University Student Center.

The expo is a student-led initiative, engaging both undergraduate and graduate students to explore possible career opportunities. In partnership with the Center for Career Services, this event provides attendees with the chance to find potential jobs or internships and network with employers. It expects to host more than 65 employers, and Career Services anticipates more than 1,300 student and alumni attendees.

GW students should register in advance.

Attendees are encouraged to wear professional business attire. They are also encouraged to have several copies of their resume to distribute to potential employers, and they should prepare a brief and compelling elevator pitch—essentially a professional introduction about themselves. Career Services advises attendees to research the companies in which they are interested to better ask informed questions, in addition to being prepared and confident in themselves.

Career Services has also planned programming around federal hiring and aid freeze. They are offering Career Pivot Workshops, which including a virtual one at 4 p.m. this Thursday, Feb. 20, on leveraging AI to explore career opportunities, identify new industries and streamline searches. The center has compiled a list of resources to support students and alumni during the federal hiring and aid freezes. This includes local government and professional associations.

Here are additional resources Career Services has offered for the Feb. 28 expo:

Meet with a career coach: Make an appointment to get personalized guidance on job search resources, resume optimization and interview preparation. Additionally, students may attend drop-in hours from 2-4 p.m. Monday through Friday on the fifth floor of the University Student Center.

Resume reviews: Students get can get their resume reviewed and practice interviewing anytime, anywhere using V Mock. GW students get 10 free resume reviews on VMock per academic year. Students may also review GW’s Resume Guides for tips on crafting strong resumes.

Preparation and practice: Students should check out GW's Interview Prep Guide to walk through how to prepare for standard, behavioral and strengths-based questions, as well as to get tips for virtual, in-person and panel interviews. They should also utilize  the Interview Insights Database, where past students and alumni have shared info about their interviews at a range of employers.
