First-generation students were recognized and celebrated at various events and activities throughout the week.

The George Washington University recognized and celebrated its vibrant first-generation community (First-generation students make up 14% of GW's undergraduate population) during National First Gen Week at GW Sunday, Nov. 5 through Saturday, Nov. 11. 

Events included a kickball game on the Mount Vernon Campus (MVC), a breakfast that included discussions and workshops on financial literacy and career planning; a First Gen, First Career event to learn about career building; grocery bingo and chalk wall; rock painting and letter-writing in a ROCK your Gratitude event with the GW military community; a networking event called Build-A-Buddy; and a brunch at MVC.
