The university’s annual employee appreciation events took place this week on the Foggy Bottom and Virginia Science and Technology campuses. Hosted by University Human Resources, the Proud to Be GW festivals drew hundreds of faculty and staff together for fun in the name of GW pride.
The Foggy Bottom festival was held Tuesday at the Marvin Center while the VSTC festival was held outside at the Enterprise Hall Field on Thursday.
Members of the GW community played party games such as Connect Four and a rendition of musical chairs where participants competed for cakes, won “GW swag” in raffle giveaways, danced to music provided by a DJ and enjoyed food and sweet treats.
George Washington University President Thomas LeBlanc, who recently celebrated his first anniversary at the university, joined the GW staff at the festival in Foggy Bottom.
He thanked the staff for their contributions to the university and said they will help advance his strategic initiatives, which will guide the university’s efforts over the next several years.
“The most important initiative for everyone here is for us to continue to improve on GW's culture—how we work together, how we treat each other, how we treat our students, alumni and visitors,” Dr. LeBlanc said. “This event is a kickoff to a focus on the people who work at GW.”
