Future George Washington University students are taking to social media to celebrate receiving acceptance letters, officially welcoming them as part of the Class of 2021. Applicants started getting notices at 5 p.m. Thursday and showed off their excitement with Twitter and Instagram posts throughout the weekend.
The Class of 2021 will be GW’s bicentennial class, graduating 200 years after the university was founded.
GW received more than 27,000 first-year applications this year. Roughly 1,500 of those applicants applied early decision, and 815 of those students were admitted. About 19 percent of all first-year applicants chose to apply without having test scores considered.
GW will welcome accepted students to campus for Inside GW days held April 7, 10, 14, 17 and 21. The program helps admitted students decide if GW is the best fit for them by providing opportunities to interact with other admitted students, current GW students, faculty members and staff.
Those who can’t make one of the Inside GW days can attend a “Final Look” session, a series of enhanced information programs designed specifically for newly-admitted students. The sessions will be held April 11-13, 18-20 and 24-28.
