After opening the season with home wins over Siena and Arkansas-Pine Bluff, the George Washington University men’s basketball team plays Georgia Monday night in the College Basketball Experience Hall of Fame Classic in Kansas City.
The Colonials will play seventh-ranked Kansas or the University of Alabama, Birmingham, on Tuesday.
Georgia is 2-1 after a season-opening 74-66 loss at Clemson and home victories over University of North Carolina, Asheville (60-46), and Furman (84-78). The Bulldogs are led by junior forward Yante Maten, who is averaging team highs of 21.7 points and 9.3 rebounds, and senior guard J.J. Frazier, who is averaging 19.0 points and four assists.
Tyler Cavanaugh leads GW in scoring (18.0) and rebounding (8.7). The graduate student and team captain also leads the team in free throws made (20), free throws attempted (24) and assists (10). He has scored in double figures in each of his 41 games as a Colonial.
The Colonials emptied the bench in a 61-41 rout of Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Thursday in the Charles E. Smith Center. Mr. Cavanaugh recorded his second double-double this season with 18 points and 10 rebounds. All 13 players saw at least six minutes of action.
