George Washington University students were named the “Most Politically Active Students” in the nation, according to the Princeton Review, which annually recognizes colleges and universities for its “The Best 381 Colleges” book. It was the fourth straight year GW has claimed the top spot in this category.
Students were surveyed on their level of political awareness, listed from very high to very low. GW is home to several active student political organizations.
The Foggy Bottom campus’ proximity to the White House, Capitol Hill and other major government agencies and influential organizations gives politically oriented students the opportunity to learn from experts in the field through internships, employment and classroom experience.
Graduating students heard from U.S. Senator Cory Booker, D-N.J., at graduation in May, and current students will also get a front row seat to the upcoming election and Presidential Inauguration on the National Mall in January.
GW also recognized seventh in the “College City Gets High Marks” list, which is ordered based on student perception of a city. Students surveyed were asked to rate the city or town their school is located in.
Earlier this year the Princeton Review named GW the best college or university for internships, as part of its “Colleges That Pay You Back” list for the second year in a row.
