Educators, administrators, students, parents, policymakers and experts from across the field of education will gather for The Atlantic’s second annual Education Summit at the George Washington University’s Dorothy Betts Marvin Theatre next week.
“GW is the perfect place to host the 2016 Atlantic Education Summit,” said Maria Ferguson, executive director of GW’s Center on Education Policy. “The university's emphasis on cutting edge research, great teaching and relevant scholarship represent exactly what is needed to strengthen and improve education at all levels.”
The conference will cover a range of topics, from early childhood learning to the continued segregation of schools and accessing a college education.
It will last two days, comprising a session on K-12 education May 17 and one on higher education May 18. A full list of speakers is available at the event’s website, as is a schedule for both days. Interested attendees may register here.
On May 17, Ms. Ferguson will provide the conference’s opening remarks on behalf of the university. Graduate School of Education and Human Development Dean Michael Feuer will speak later on a panel on teacher training.
George Washington President Steven Knapp will join a panel May 18 on college cost and accessibility, a longtime priority at the university.
