George Washington University students and faculty have a new one-stop resource for a range of academic and course information: an improved university bulletin website.
Published annually, the bulletin serves as the academic contract for undergraduate and graduate students who need information about the university's academic regulations and policies, requirements for academic programs, and course listings and descriptions.
“Our main goal is to create a student-friendly website that is easy to navigate and full of accurate and important academic information,” said Cheryl Beil, associate provost for academic planning and assessment.
The scope of the information included in the 2014-15 bulletin is significantly more comprehensive than in past years. For the first time, the bulletin includes regulations for programs and course listings in the Milken Institute School of Public Health, the School of Medicine and Health Sciences’ health sciences programs, School of Nursing and the College of Professional Studies. Next year, courses in the Law School will be added as well. The bulletin also includes information about admissions, financial aid, course registration, majors and minors and more.
The site has an improved search function and is printer friendly. In addition, the site includes links to university bulletins beginning in 2006-07.
GW will no longer publish a print version of the bulletin. “Putting the bulletin completely online makes it easily accessible, eliminates waste and saves costs associated with printing,” said Dr. Beil.
Along with the new site, the university is streamlining administrative functions related to the production of the bulletin, including taking the course approval process online and enabling faculty to make changes to course listings electronically, said Dr. Beil. Coming soon will be a streamlined online program approval process
