The wait is over. After weeks of careful deliberations, the George Washington University Office of Admissions has admitted more than 8,000 incoming freshmen for the class of 2018 and is hoping to assemble a class size of around 2,350 students. The admitted students represent 80 countries, all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
"They are an incredibly diverse, talented group, and we are excited to see many of them on campus over the course of the next month,” said GW Director of Admissions Karen Felton. "I am impressed by all that these students have already accomplished. They have excelled academically in the most rigorous courses offered in their high schools and have distinguished themselves in their communities. Students invited to join the GW Class of 2018 include the founder of TEDx Youth in San Diego, an Indonesian pop star, a champion Irish step dancer and a member of the DC National Youth Slam Poetry team.
The university will open its doors to admitted students during four Colonial Welcome Days in April. The prospective Colonials will have the opportunity to meet professors and hear from students about their favorite "only at GW" moments.
