On Saturday, members of the George Washington University community celebrated the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army, the nation’s first president and namesake of the university with a visit to his Mount Vernon estate in Alexandria.
The trip included round-trip transportation from campus, tours of the mansion and wreath-laying ceremonies at the Slave Memorial and Washington’s Tomb. The full mansion is open after two years of renovations, including the newly restored Washingtons' Bedchamber.
