Members of the George Washington University community celebrated the Lunar New Year this week with events on the Mount Vernon and Foggy Bottom campuses.
Commemorating the Year of the Horse with cultural activities and foods, the GW Division for Student Affairs hosted an event in Post Hall on the Mount Vernon Campus complete with a lion dance, a red envelope giveaway and traditional cuisine.
The spring festivities, including another lion dance performance, fun new year games and some delicious food, continued on the Foggy Bottom campus’ Kogan Plaza. A variety of groups, including the GW Institute for Korean Studies, Sigur Center for Asian Studies, and the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences’ Chinese Arts & Humanities Initiative and Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, hosted the Lunar New Year Festival event.
Multimedia Producer Cara Taylor took photos of the festivities at Kogan Plaza, while Senior University Photographer William Atkins captured images on the Mount Vernon Campus.
