Mina Attia, an associate professor of counseling and human development and the program co-director for Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the George Washington University School of Education and Human Development (GSEHD), has been elected vice chair of the Board of Trustees of the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC) Foundation.
The NBCC Foundation works to advance global health equity by expanding access to counseling and mental health services. As vice chair, Attia will help shape the foundation’s strategic efforts to support mental health professionals and the communities they serve.
Attia’s research focuses on trauma and adjustment among immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers, as well as multicultural issues related to ethics and professional development in counseling. He has published extensively on these topics and has led trainings, lectures and presentations across the country.
