George Washington University's men’s basketball and the Georgetown Hoyas announced Wednesday that the local foes will face each other at the Charles E. Smith Center for an exhibition game ahead of the 2025-26 season. The preseason game will be on Oct. 18.
Tickets to the contest, more than 40 years in the making, are available in GW season ticket packages.
The last time the Hoyas played in the Smith Center was on Dec. 13, 1980, and the last game between the schools was played a year later on Dec. 16, 1981.
GW is currently ranked 60th in preseason projections by Bart Torvik, slightly ahead of Georgetown at 71.
Anticipation is high for the Revolutionaries with the team returning six players from the program's first 20-win season in nine years and a return to the postseason for the first time since the 2017 season. Joining the half-dozen returners are five talented transfers who have been cited amongst the top Mid Major transfer classes in the country.
