Dalphine A. Joppy, Ed.D.’ 13, an alumna of the Graduate School of Education and Human Development at George Washington University, has been named the Region I Superintendent of the Year by the Virginia Association of School Superintendents.
Joppy is the superintendent of Charles City County Public Schools in Virginia. In this role, Joppy facilitated the development of the 2024-2029 Strategic Plan that promotes providing all students with diverse learning experiences, multiple career pathways and real-world exposure. She is also an advocate for small and rural school divisions and supports educational initiatives statewide.
Joppy holds positions and serves on several boards and committees, such as the Advisory Board for the Educational Leadership and Administration program at GW, the School-University Resource Network (SURN) Superintendents Advisory Board, the Virginia State University College of Education Dean’s Advisory Board, Mothers and Autism Meetup and the Garden of Hope Community Development Corporation.
