GW’s Online Degree Programs Rank High

Offerings in nursing, engineering and business were rated among the country’s 10 best by U.S. News & World Report.

Twenty George Washington University online degree programs ranked high among U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Online Programs, with the university’s online bachelor’s degree taking 8th best for veterans and 17th best overall. The full list was released Tuesday.

The School of Nursing's online graduate programs made a particularly strong showing, ranking third in three categories: best for veterans, nursing administration/leadership and psychiatric mental health across the lifespan nurse practitioner. The program also ranked fourth among family nurse practitioner programs and sixth best overall.

The School of Engineering and Applied Science’s online graduate programs bettered their consistently high position, rising to eighth-best overall and seventh-best for veterans. Multiple online MBA programs from the School of Business also ranked high, with the highest showing at ninth among marketing MBA programs.

GW′s online offerings, which have consistently ranked well in previous years, were among more than 1,800 assessed by U.S. News.

U.S. News highly ranked the following GW online programs:

  • 3rd among graduate nursing administration/leadership programs
  • 3rd among graduate nursing programs for veterans
  • 3rd among graduate psychiatric mental health across the lifespan nurse practitioner programs
  • 4th among graduate family nurse practitioner programs
  • 6th among graduate nursing programs
  • 7th among graduate engineering programs for veterans
  • 8th among graduate engineering programs
  • 8th among bachelor’s programs for veterans
  • 8th among graduate engineering management programs
  • 9th among marketing MBA programs
  • 10th among graduate industrial engineering programs
  • 14th among finance MBA programs
  • 15th among business analytics MBA programs
  • 17th among bachelor’s programs
  • 17th among graduate education programs for veterans
  • 24th among graduate business programs for veterans
  • 27th among graduate education programs
  • 39th among graduate business programs
  • 43rd among MBA programs for veterans
  • 55th among MBA programs
