Dr. Jordan Shelby West, the associate vice provost for diversity, equity and community engagement at George Washington University, has been named an American College Personnel Association (ACPA) 2025 Diamond Honoree.
ACPA’s mission is to help advance student affairs, further the professional development of student affairs professionals, and engage students for a lifetime of learning and discovery. The Diamond Honoree Program recognizes scholars who have made outstanding contributions to ACPA, student affairs and higher education and helps raise funds that sustain the ACPA Foundation in its support of the research, scholarship and programs that promote student development and success.
Dr. West is receiving the honor for making a significant impact on higher education through her research, teaching, service and sustained contributions to ACPA.
In her role at GW, Dr. West is responsible for creating and implementing justice-centered and equitable strategic planning, sustainable change and educational opportunities across the institution that informs people, policies and practices, to continue shifting the campus toward a more positive and just climate. Dr. West also teaches courses on Black feminist theory for undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. West identifies as a scholar-activist and formally trained social justice, anti-racist educator and facilitator. Dr. West serves as a national consultant and active leader across multiple organizations, while annually presenting at conferences and publishing.
