George Washington University alumna Lindsay M. Chervinsky, B.A. ’10, wrote a new book, “Making the Presidency: John Adams and the Precedents That Forged the Republic.” 

 

Chervinsky’s book explores John Adams' five-year battle to defend essential political norms, including the first peaceful transfer of power in American history. It highlights how the Constitution and the presidency were shaped by the demands of the times, and both continue to evolve. The book also delves into the machinations of Adams' early republic political contemporaries, including Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton and the significant contributions of Abigail Adams.
