Society of Women Engineers Recognizes GW Doctoral Student

George Washington University doctoral student Annaliza Perez Torres received the Rising Technical Contributor Award from the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). The prestigious national award is meant to highlight emerging leaders in their respective fields, particularly those who demonstrate technical expertise and innovation in their careers.

 

Torres is a doctoral candidate in engineering management at GW and a materials and process engineer at Lockheed Martin. She is receiving the award for her leadership in academic and extracurricular initiatives, and her commitment to pushing the boundaries of science and engineering. 

 

Torres served as the twice-elected education and outreach coordinator for the American Society for Gravitational and Space Research from November 2021 to November 2023. She shares her knowledge and experience in materials science and engineering through her mentorship at ASGSR.

 

Torres will receive the award at SWE’s annual conference, WE24, held from Oct. 24 to 26 in Chicago.
