George Washington University alumna Natasha Dupee, B.A. '12, M.A. '23, won the 2024 Barbara Jordan Leadership Award.
The award is in remembrance of Barbara Jordan, the first African American woman to serve in the Texas State Legislature and the first African American U.S. Representative from the Deep South. The award is given to an elected official who honors Jordan's legacy while also being a member of the Young Election Officials Network and having a distinguished record of service to their community.
Dupee received this award for her dedication to public service. She serves as Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner for single-member district 7E04 in Washington, D.C. In 2023, Dupee was appointed executive director of the Mayor’s Office on Women’s Policy and Initiatives. She is also a member of the GW Alumni Association.
