The Office of the Executive Vice President (EVP), Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Treasurer at the George Washington University is implementing organizational updates to streamline services and enhance efficiency.
As part of these changes, the Division of Safety and Facilities will become the Division of Safety and Operations (DSO). This new division will be led by Baxter Goodly, who will serve as the vice president for safety and operations. In addition, Hemant Bakshi will take on a new role as vice president for finance and assistant treasurer. They will begin in their positions effective immediately.
GW President Ellen M. Granberg said the announced changes and the promotion of Goodly and Bakshi will further strengthen an already talented team as the university begins a new fiscal year and academic year.
“The Office of the EVP, CFO and Treasurer plays a critical role in stewarding the university’s financial resources and ensuring the security and operation of our campuses,” Granberg said. “Baxter and Hemant are both exceptional and proven leaders at GW, and I look forward to their continued success in their new roles.”
Bruno Fernandes, GW’s executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer, said he appreciates the contributions of staff and leadership across his teams.
“We are very fortunate to have a strong team of staff across the EVP, CFO and Treasurer Office, and I am grateful for the dedicated work of the many individuals supporting our university's mission every day," Fernandes said. “I thank Baxter and Hemant for their leadership and for taking on these additional areas of responsibility.”
Goodly has been leading safety and facilities in an interim capacity. As he takes on the role officially with the renamed division, he will now also oversee the Office of Real Estate and Events and Venues.
“I am truly honored to be asked to assume this role permanently. I'm really excited to continue to work with this dedicated team of professionals,” Goodly said. “As we assemble this larger team within the Division of Safety and Operations, I think we have a unique opportunity to synchronize our safety and security efforts, improve our operational efficiency and significantly enhance the student experience.”
Bakshi, previously the senior associate vice president for financial planning and operations, will now oversee Treasury and Risk Management in his new role.
“I am excited by this opportunity to collaborate across business units to enhance our financial planning and working capital management, and strengthen our finances," he said.
