Celia Peña-Gomez, the program coordinator for the International Education Program and the Advanced Studies Program for International Visiting Scholars, was awarded the George Washington Award at the Excellence in Student Life Awards Ceremony.
She was nominated for displaying competence, integrity and goodwill in carrying out her university responsibilities. Gomez was also recognized for going above and beyond to create a broad and lasting impact on campus. The Excellence in Student Life Awards at GW is the largest celebration of student life and a campus tradition to honor the individuals and groups that work tirelessly to enhance student life on campus and work alongside our surrounding community.
