Risa Broudy, the director of the Meltzer Center at the George Washington University, which provides a wide variety of low-cost mental health services to adults and children in the Washington, D.C., area was awarded a $120,000 contract from the Southern Smoke Foundation. The organization is a nonprofit that works to provide monetary assistance and mental health services to food and beverage service industry workers.
Broudy will administer the grant and coordinate the efforts of multiple training clinics at GW including Community Counseling Services, the Center Clinic and the Art Therapy Clinic. Broudy has been the director of the Melzer Center Clinic since 2006. She is responsible for clinic administration and coordination of in-house practice for graduate students. Broudy has a background in psychological assessment, family systems and mindfulness.
