Bethamie Horowitz, the inaugural Director of Professional Learning Communities for the Collaborative for Applied Studies in Jewish Education (CASJE), was awarded the Marshall Sklare Award for career achievement at the annual meeting of the Association for Jewish Studies (ASSJ).
The award is used to honor a senior scholar who has made a significant scholarly contribution to Jewish studies, primarily through the publication of a body of research in books and articles or of published work related to public policy.
Horowitz has three decades of experience directing research in a variety of applied and academic contexts in the United States and Israel. She has published widely on the sociology of American Jews in terms of population, identity, community and education.
