Gayle Wald, a professor of American Studies at George Washington University, has been appointed to the Smithsonian American Women’s History Museum Committee of Scholars. The committee was established to guide the museum on content and provide input on the museum’s plan to document the experiences of women in the United States through exhibitions, public programs, research initiatives and education resources.
There were 15 members chosen to join the committee. They have backgrounds in various academic disciplines, including women and gender studies, American history, anthropology and law.
Wald is a scholar and author of American culture. Her work has been supported by fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Wald’s current project is a biography of Ella Jenkins.
