George Washington University President Ellen M. Granberg was honored by “Diverse: Issues In Higher Education” as one of 40 women who have made a difference in society by attacking some of higher education’s toughest challenges, exhibiting extraordinary leadership skills and making a difference in her community.
In honor of Women’s History month, Diverse published its 13th annual special report recognizing the contributions of women to higher education. Granberg was highlighted for her commitment to building on GW’s legacy in education, research, scholarship and patient care and service.
Granberg is a nationally recognized scholar in the sociology of self, identity and mental health. She is a widely published researcher and has served as an expert on various councils and associations, including the American Sociological Association and Association of Chief Academic Officers.
Granberg has over a decade of experience working in the corporate world and leading large integrated software development teams in the telecommunications industry. Prior to working at GW, Granberg served as provost and senior vice president of academic affairs at the Rochester Institute of Technology. She also served as the senior associate provost and associate provost for faculty affairs at Clemson University.
