Catherine Grizzle, a master’s student studying organizational leadership and learning at George Washington University, was selected to be a Military Mentor for the United States Senate Youth Program's (USSYP) Washington Week 2024. Seventeen officers are selected as Military Mentors each year by the Office of the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs through a competitive candidate review process.
Grizzle served in the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and was commissioned as an active duty 2nd Lt. in Field Artillery—the only combat arms branch open to women at the time. Grizzle was selected as an Olmsted ROTC Scholar and conducted fellowships representing the U.S. Army in China, Panama and South Korea.
