Patricia Hernandez, a professor of cellular and molecular biology at George Washington University, has been named president of the Society for Integrative and Comparative Biology (SICB). She is the first woman from an underrepresented minority group to be president in the organization’s 133-year history.
SICB is an organization that fosters research, education, public awareness and understanding of living organisms from molecules and cells to ecology and evolution. SICB encourages interdisciplinary cooperative research that integrates new models and methodologies to enhance research and education.
