GW alumna Deema Kahwash, GWTEACH '21, was named the 2023 Beginner Teacher of the Year in Buncombe County Schools in North Carolina. Kahwash is a teacher at Community High School. The Beginner Teacher of the Year process was developed to honor and retain teachers who show promise as excellent educators and education leaders in North Carolina.
"As a teacher, my job is to guide students daily.I love helping high school students develop their natural love for learning,” Kahwash said to Buncombe County Schools.
