Registration opens today for the George Washington University’s annual Alumni & Families Weekend Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, a three-day extravaganza that brings together the GW community from near and far to reconnect, reminisce and enjoy a fun-filled weekend on campus.
“Alumni & Families Weekend is a unique opportunity for our community to experience campus and celebrate GW with friends and family,” said Patty Carocci, associate vice president of alumni relations and annual giving. “We look forward to this momentous occasion every year and are excited to offer our signature only-at-GW programming for an unforgettable weekend.”
The event kicks off Friday with an Insta-worthy welcome party for the entire GW community at Potomac Square, featuring food, cocktails, music and more. A to-be-announced special guest comedian also will perform at the Charles E. Smith Center Friday night.
The weekend’s many events include a community conversation with President Ellen M. Granberg, tours of the reimagined Thurston Hall, open houses hosted by the deans of GW’s respective schools, residential neighborhood showcases, an a cappella concert, lectures from beloved GW faculty and more. Vern Harvest, GW’s autumnal signature event, takes place Saturday on the Mount Vernon Campus.
Class reunion celebrations will be held for the classes of 2003 (20th reunion), 2008 (15th reunion), 2013 (10th reunion), and 2018 (fifth reunion), giving classmates an opportunity to reconnect and reminisce during a milestone anniversary.
The weekend will conclude Sunday with a panel of GW experts on the multifaceted landscape of AI—its pitfalls, its potential and how to ensure its ethical use in law and society.
Guests can register for the weekend and find a full schedule of events on the Alumni & Families Weekend website.
