The George Washington University will host its annual Alumni & Families Weekend Sept. 30-Oct. 2, marking the on-campus return of this tradition for the first time since 2019.
The three-day event will kick off on Friday with two welcome parties: one for the entire GW community at Kogan Plaza and one exclusively for alumni at Potomac Square. Guests can expect food, music, games, Insta-worthy moments and more for a fun-filled night in Foggy Bottom. A to-be-announced special guest comedian will also perform at the Charles E. Smith Center Friday night.
Throughout the weekend there will be a multitude of events, including a documentary film series featuring four short films highlighting campus study spots, the Global Women’s Institute, Washington, D.C., as a classroom and GW’s unique commencement celebration on the National Mall.
Class reunion celebrations will be held for the classes of 1972 (50th reunion), 2002 (20th reunion), 2012 (10th reunion) and 2017 (fifth reunion) – an opportunity for classmates to reconnect and reminisce during a milestone anniversary.
The weekend will also include a highly anticipated look into the reimagined Thurston Hall with an Open House featuring tours of the newly renovated residence hall.
New this year is GW Athletics’ Hoops Fan Fest with games, prizes and the opportunity to meet players and coaches of both the men’s and women’s basketball teams.
The weekend will conclude on Sunday with a political discourse by GW’s best and brightest political minds on the Supreme Court nomination process.
“Welcoming the GW community during Alumni & Families Weekend is always one of the highlights of our year,” said Patty Carocci, associate vice president of alumni relations and annual giving. “We are looking forward to bringing together GW alumni, families and friends around our signature only-at-GW programming. With dozens of events throughout the weekend, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.”
Guests can register for the weekend and find a full schedule of events on the Alumni & Families Weekend website.
