The George Washington University and the GW Alumni Association (GWAA) welcomed six new members to the GWAA Executive Committee last month: Char Beales, Ming Lowe, Amanda Notarangelo, Jordan D. Jean, Natasha Dupee and Vishal Aswani.
Led by GWAA President Will Alexander, B.S. ’04, M.B.A. ’06, the committee is composed of 20 members who were invited to serve based on their common passion for and commitment to GW. GWAA strives to strengthen and promote an invested alumni community through the engagement of current and future alumni.
Char Beales, B.A. ’73, served as president and CEO of the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing for more than 20 years. Beales previously chaired GW’s School of Media and Public Affairs National Council and GW’s Heritage Society. She also co-chaired “Making History: The Campaign for GW,” the university’s $1 billion fundraising campaign, and served as a member of GW’s Task Force on Alumni Volunteer Engagement and the Council of Council Chairs.
Ming Lowe, J.D. ’98, is an administrator of the Public Kinship Think Tank at Neighborhood Associates Corporation and a member of the District of Columbia Bar. Lowe has served in a leadership capacity on six alumni groups, including GW Law Alumni Association, GW Association of Black Law Alumni, GW Asian American Law Alumni Association and GW Asian Pacific Islander Alumni Network. As a student, he co-led two public interest student organizations and was a legal research and writing fellow for the International Graduate Program.
Amanda Notarangelo, B.A. ’09, is the marketing manager for Holland & Knight's Boston, New York and Stamford offices where she works with attorneys on their business development efforts, events and charitable projects. Notarangelo also provides marketing strategy support for the firm's regional diversity, equity and inclusion committees and women's initiatives, as well as the firm-wide veterans group. She has served on the GW Boston Alumni Network committee since 2013.
Jordan D. Jean, J.D. ’21, is a corporate associate at Venable LLP where he counsels clients on the complexities of corporate law transactions. While at GW, Jean served as chair of the Law Student Bar Association’s Senate Finance Committee and was also a member of the Black Law Student Association. During the coronavirus pandemic Jean helped navigate the law school’s student body as chair of the COVID-19 Task Force and the inaugural chair of the Dean’s Advisory Board.
Natasha Dupee, B.A. ’12, is a graduate student in GW’s Milken Institute School of Public Health where she is studying public health policy. Dupee is committed to changing, creating and defending policies that enable all people to access a quality life, and has spent the last decade focusing on pipeline programs and policies that address the social determinants of health. She served as chair of the GW Black Alumni Association from 2020 to 2022 and currently serves as the Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner for her district.
Vishal Aswani, B.S. ’10, is a cyber security supervisor with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission’s Office of Electric Reliability. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 2020 after having served active duty completing logistics and program management assignments for the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Persistent Ground Surveillance Program. During his time at GW, Aswani was involved with WRGW student radio and the Colonial Cabinet, and he also served as the 2008-09 Student Association president.
All GW graduates and former students who completed at least 15 credit hours and left the university in good standing are members of the GW Alumni Association. Membership is granted automatically. There are no membership dues, and no registration is required. Instead, alumni are encouraged to support GW’s critical and strategic needs across campus.
“We are excited to welcome these six outstanding new members into the GWAA Executive Committee,” said Patty Carocci, associate vice president of alumni relations and annual giving. “As leaders in the GW community, their diverse backgrounds and GW experiences will offer fresh perspectives on how to strengthen and engage our global alumni community.”
