In a conversation with Columbian College of Arts and Sciences Dean Paul Wahlbeck, Physics Professor Alexander van der Horst discusses his research on multi-wavelength observations and modeling of high-energy cosmic transient sources, such as gamma-ray bursts, magnetars and tidal disruption events. Much of his work involves extracting data from space-based and ground-based telescopes all over the globe, which places him at the center of important international collaborations.
