Members of the George Washington University community gathered at the Colonial Club in the Charles E. Smith Center Thursday to celebrate the 2019 Lunar New Year.
The GW Confucius Institute, the Sigur Center for Asian Studies, the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, the Multicultural Student Services Center and the International Services Office co-sponsored the event with several student organizations.
The Lunar New Year is heralded as one of the most important annual traditions in several East Asian cultures including China, Vietnam and Korea. The new year begins Feb. 5 and will mark the Year of the Pig.
Participants of the GW celebration enjoyed student dance and music performances and food.
