Aristide Collins Jr., who joined the university in October 2010 as senior executive director for board relations and secretary of the university, has been named vice president. He will continue to serve as secretary of the university.

“Aristide has demonstrated extraordinary skill and dedication in supporting the board’s activities, enhancing its processes and responding to the needs and interests of individual board members,” said George Washington President Steven Knapp.

Mr. Collins is charged with establishing and executing a comprehensive Board of Trustees office and university secretary function, managing the business affairs, governance, recruitment, communication and special board events. He also serves as the liaison between the board, senior staff and other university constituencies and provides stewardship for official records of the board and the seal of the George Washington University.

“George Washington University has a talented, experienced and committed Board of Trustees,” said Mr. Collins. “My role is to support their governance responsibilities and optimize their engagement and service to the university.”

He has worked in higher education for nearly 20 years, serving as GW director of development for university projects in the late ’90s and holding senior advancement positions at California State University, Long Beach and Pacific Oaks College and Children’s School.

“The work we do here at George Washington is very rewarding,” Mr. Collins added. “We are all fortunate to work with a dedicated team of trustees, faculty, staff, students and administrators. I am humbled by the opportunity to continue to serve the Board of Trustees and the greater GW community in this role.”
