University departments are now able to view availability and reserve Marvin Center meeting, major, table and outdoor venue space with a real-time online request. Previously departments had to call the Office of Events and Venues to check availability and submit an electronic request form.

The online scheduling system has expanded for student organizations as well. While student organizations have been able to view availability and reserve meeting rooms online, now these groups are also able to reserve major venue, outdoor space, banner and table space in the Marvin Center. Major venue spaces include the Grand Ballroom, Continental Ballroom, Amphitheatre and the Betts Theatre.

Once departments or organizations make their online reservations, an events and venues staff member will confirm their reservation via email.

“This is yet another step to meet the needs of our clients across the university,” said Michael Peller, assistant vice president for events and venues. “These new features will make requesting and reserving space more convenient for faculty, staff and students alike.”

Meeting space is also available on the ground floor of the Marvin Center. Anyone with a GWorld ID can reserve online these spaces, which include two student lounges and eight meeting rooms of varying size. These reservations do not require waiting for a confirmation from the events and venues staff.

The Marvin Center spaces can be reserved from 7 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Wednesday and from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. Thursday through Sunday.

“This expanded online booking system is the result of a multiyear effort to provide GW community members with better access to scheduling resources and online tools,” said Natalie Hisczak, executive director of scheduling. “We believe this will enable faculty, students and staff to better take advantage of our variety of venue options.”
