Dear Members of the George Washington University Community,

It is my very sad task to report that one of our students has died. Her family has requested that we not release her name at this time. The student was a fourth year chemistry major in our Columbian College of Arts and Sciences who lived in West Hall on our Mount Vernon Campus, where she was found in her room this morning. There is no indication that her death was a result of a criminal act.

In the aftermath of this tragic loss, I urge all of us to take care of ourselves and look out for one another. Remember too that the University Counseling Center is available to you with a variety of resources, including newly expanded hours for counseling at West Hall. If you would like to talk to someone about this tragedy, please contact the Counseling Center at 202-994-5300 or via its website.
